We’ll be running a regular series of social events over the coming months to bring together TARA members at iconic city centre venues. The first of these will be held at the Clore Learning Centre on the evening of Friday September 15th.
During the September event, Robert Campbell, the council’s Head of Heritage Services, will outline his group’s future plans for the Roman Baths Museum, the Victoria Art Gallery and the Bath Record Office and provide TARA members with an update on the proposed new Fashion Museum.
As the event’s being held at the new Clore Learning Centre, it also provides members with an opportunity to see inside this acclaimed refurbishment of the former Victorian laundry/boiler room on Swallow Street. The Centre recently received a RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) award, with the judges describing it as “a triumph of thoughtful and inventive thinking that has created a series of dramatic and unexpected spaces that both celebrate and highlight the layered history of these wonderful buildings”.
The event is free to TARA members, with complimentary refreshments provided. We hope to see many of you there!
Date and Time: 6:30pm (doors open 6pm), Friday September 15th.
Venue: The Clore Learning Centre, Swallow Street (off York St).
Future events include, in October, an update from the city’s Regeneration Team on several city centre projects (such as the Milsom Quarter Masterplan and the riverside colonnades) and, later in the year, a private tour of Bath Abbey’s new Discovery Centre with an update on future plans for restoring the Abbey.
